Purpose
The 100% virtual 3rd Annual Heartland Interprofessional Education (HIPE) Conference will focus on interprofessional education and collaborative practice aligning with the definitions and competencies in the Core Competencies of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (IPEC, 2016). The conference provides an opportunity for learners, scholars, and practitioners in the field of interprofessional education and healthcare to share knowledge, build skills, experience professional development, and form collaborative relationships. All Des Moines University programs are invited to participate including the College of Podiatric Medicine, College of Health Sciences, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines interprofessional education (IPE) as an experience that “occurs when students from two or more professions learn about, from, and with each other” (WHO, 2010).
Objectives
This conference will highlight emerging trends in interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPE/IPP), facilitate participants’ knowledge and skill set acquisition, and affirm attitudes focused on improving outcomes for patients, healthcare professionals, and populations.

CANCELLATION POLICY
- All cancellations must be received in writing at cme@dmu.edu.
- A nonrefundable administrative fee of $20 will be charged for all cancellations.
- No refunds will be given three (3) business days prior to the activity start date.
- Cancelled registrations can be transferred to another individual for the same activity.
- Individuals who fail to attend the activity (no-shows) will not receive any refund. Forfeited fees may not be applied to any other activity.
