Target Audience
Des Moines University faculty and staff.
Purpose
This class will introduce you to the key elements you and your students need to know to help you accomplish your clinical, research, and educational goals.
It can be a challenge to keep up due to the sheer volume of research produced each year. This class will help you learn about the options available to help you keep current with specific journals or an area of research from database subscribed to by the library.
Learning Objectives
By the end of class participants will be able to independently explain key concepts and/or perform the following skills as indicated by the observation of the instructor and student’s self‐assessment:
- Identify the research tools available to save search strategies and search results.
- Recall and define the two options for setting up search alerts (RSS and Saved Searches).
- Demonstrate how to set up a search alert in at least one of the following: Journals (publisher's website, Browzine, JournalTOCs), PubMed, Scopus, EbscoHost, Proquest.
- Identify how to locate further training materials from the DMU library at: http://lib.dmu.edu/su/keepingcurrent.
