Wellness: Rural Communities and Farm Families
Purpose
Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multi-disciplinary clinical activity which serves to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public or the profession.
Target Audience
Physicians, Advance Practice Professionals, Nurses, Ancillary Staff, Medical Students (Rotating), Non-Medical Students (Rotating), and Healthcare Administrators.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the emotional and physical cost of stress on farmers and the agriculture related business sectors in rural Iowa
- Examine the importance of resiliency in the agriculture workforce during prolonged disasters that compound the normal stressors of an agriculture related occupation
- Identify increased suicide risks of farmers, rural, and agriculture related workers
- Give examples of your ability to better promote mental health literacy
