Target Audience

Healthcare professionals.

Description

There is a significant knowledge gap regarding the availability and proven benefits of these procedures for individuals with elbow tendinopathy. Many patients are increasingly hesitant to pursue surgical intervention, yet these minimally invasive options can prevent surgery in refractory cases. Providers often do not implement these treatments, not necessarily because they are ineffective, but because awareness and education about them remain limited. This gap affects both clinical decision-making and patient counseling. By improving provider understanding of these options, we can better educate patients about evidence-based alternatives to surgery and expand appropriate treatment pathways before considering operative intervention.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the complexity of tendinopathy and the underlying pathophysiology of the condition.
  2. Explain ultrasound tenotomy and outline what the procedure entails.
  3. Evaluate patient outcomes and potential complications associated with ultrasound-guided tenotomy.
  4. Identify challenges to incorporating ultrasound tenotomy into routine treatment recommendations.
