  • Identify at least one strategy to integrate trauma-informed principles in their work.

Speaker

Tiffany Conroy, MSW, LISW

Ms. Conroy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), with 10 years of experience in trauma-informed therapy and public health. Her approach therapy is an eclectic style that is client-centered, collaborative, that is aimed at helping clients to better understand their history and how those experiences are influencing their reactions and responses to situations of today, so that they can feel more empowered in their daily lives.

Ms. Conroy has training in several therapeutic modalities, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) & Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprograming (EMDR). She pulls from theories on attachment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion, and public health to inform her work with clients.

Prior to joining Red Couch Counseling, Ms. Conroy worked in community mental health and a trauma-treatment program in Chicago for six years, specializing in complex trauma and survivors of violent crime. After returning to Iowa in 2016, she spent four years working in public health where she specialized in injury and violence prevention and response. Her years in public health enriched her clinical practice where she uses Social Ecological Model (SEM) to understand how people both interact with, and are affected by, factors at each level of the SEM: Individual (biological and personal history factors); Relationship (the close relationships that contribute to their experience); Community (the places and spaces in which people live, work, play, and learn); Societal (social/cultural norms, and the policies/practices of the broader society).
