  1. Define a number of alternative payment models and contrast them from prior and existing volume-based approaches to care.
  2. Recognize the opportunities available to physicians gained through a working knowledge of the difference between the old volume-based and new value-based systems.
  3. Outline the specific strategies for physicians to be engaged in the creation of value for patients receiving care.
  4. Assess opportunities for the optimization of clinical value in the delivery of patient care. 


John Brady

John Brady, DHA, FACHE
Adjunct Faculty, Master of Health Care Administration, Des Moines University

Dr. Brady is the Vice President of Physician Services and Organizational Planning for Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, providing leadership in program development for the hospital as well as business planning for the Marianjoy Medical Group. In addition, he works to maintain and expand Marianjoy’s external relationships with providers. Previously, Dr. Brady held a position at Discovery Chicago in which he gained experience in operational and strategic planning across a wide variety of clinical specialties including neurology, orthopedics, and mental health. In addition, he also worked as a member of the Rush System for Health, where he was responsible for marketing, planning and business development. He earned a Doctor of Health Administration degree from Central Michigan University, Master’s in Communications from Illinois State University, and his Bachelor’s in Communications/Broadcasting from the University of Iowa.
