Educational Need

Personality refers to enduring patterns of thought, feeling, motivation, self-regulation, and behaviors activated over time and across situations or in an interpersonally or adaptively significant situation. Personality plays such an important role, on the one hand, in life satisfaction and adaptation and, on the other, as a key diathesis for virtually every form of pathology in DSM-5 - from personality disorders to anxiety, mood, and other disorders. This is why assessing personality is essential for clinical work and research.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe various types of personality disorders.
  • Define somatic symptom disorder.
  • List management recommendations for personality disorders.
