The General Surgery Didactic Program is an addition to Mercy Medical Center's expansive general surgery exposure. A wide variety of general surgical and subspecialty training is administered within the tertiary care facility and is taught by fellowship-trained faculty.

Intended Audience

Nurses, physicians, surgeons, residents, medical students, and other interested health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the importance of evidence-based medicine and apply evidence-based medicine to each case study presented.
  2. Identify best practices for surgical procedure being discussed and whether it is/was appropriate in this case.
  3. Critique patient outcomes for each case and discuss potential improvements or different manner in which to handle.
