Educational Need
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), muscle strength is an important physical exam component that can reveal information about neurologic deficits. This presentation will review clinical and discriminating features commonly seen in peripheral nervous system disorders.
Learning Objectives
- Review the neuromuscular examination as it pertains to the peripheral nervous system.
- Differentiate clinical patterns of weakness based on pathophysiology.
- Recognize clinical and discriminating features of commonly seen peripheral nervous system disorders.
Speaker
Felicia J. Gliksman, DO, MPH, FAAN
Director of the Pediatric and Adult Concussion Center at Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center
Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
Dr. Gliksman is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in treating pediatric and adult concussions and brain injuries. She works with an interdisciplinary team of experts to provide patients with the full continuum of neurological care needed to treat their conditions. Dr. Gliksman has been recognized as a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), a special achievement in neuroscience. She is a co-investigator for two studies related to recovery from brain injury.
