Purpose

Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multi-disciplinary clinical activity that maintains, develops, or increases the knowledge, skills, professional performance, and relationships a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

Target Audience

Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), and healthcare administrators.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the distinctions of diagnosis and management of syphilis.
  2. Employ novel treatment and prevention strategies against HIV.
  3. Recognize common manifestations of Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) and offer appropriate management. 

Speaker

Ellen Kitchell, MD, FIDSA, AAHIVM-S
Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, UT Southwestern Medical Center

Dr. Kitchell holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she graduated summa cum laude. She then earned her medical degree at the University of Iowa’s Carver College of Medicine. She completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at UT Southwestern. She holds HIV Expert certification through the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) and specialist certification through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM-S).

She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010, having been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in infectious diseases and internal medicine.
