Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multi-disciplinary clinical activity which serves to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public or the profession.  

Target Audience

Physicians, mid-level providers, nurses and healthcare administrators. 

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the immunologic background of drug allergy. 
  2. Provide an overview of antimicrobial drug allergy & solutions to common problems of cross-reactivity.
  3. List specific examples of how drug allergy issues can impact patient care & solutions to those problems.
  4. Describe to medical Gell & Coombs system for classifying drug allergy reactions & discuss drugs that fit each category.
