Copyright and Fair Use in Terms of Social Media

Des Moines , IA US
April 3, 2012

If there is one concept that sums up the way we use Social Media today it, would be “sharing”. We share our thoughts, our photos, and our prose. Everything we post is instantly distributed far and wide and is cached permanently on who knows how many servers around the globe. As Social Medial is used more and more in educational endeavors, issues arise regarding Copyrights, Fair Use, and other legal issues that are often viewed as annoyances by some academics. The purpose of this Web Audio Seminar is to discuss issues of Copyright and Fair Use in the context of Social Media, outline some of the basic dos and don’ts, and to provide context and compass to teaching faculty.
