Educational Need
With the increasing legalization and use of cannabis for both medical and recreational purposes, healthcare professionals must be well-informed about its effects, risks, and therapeutic applications. There is a need to educate healthcare professionals on cannabis-related topics to ensure accurate patient guidance, risk assessment, and evidence-based recommendations.
Learning Objectives
- Counsel patients on how cannabis and related products can affect mental health disorders and related phenomena.
- Identify products that contain cannabis.
- Review the pharmacological effects of cannabis.
- Assess whether a patient has a cannabis use disorder.
- Discuss the current evidence that cannabis has on mental health disorders and related phenomena.
- Specific to Iowa, discuss the legal aspects of cannabis use.
