Join Dr. Robin Kopelman, as she discusses the impact of caregiver depression on young children’s mental health. Information will be shared on identifying depression, prevalence, barriers to detection and treatment, importance of screening and assessment, options for treatment and available community resources. Opportunity for Q&A will follow presentation.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the prevalence of, risk factors for, and consequences of caregiver depression, as well as barriers to its detection and treatment.
  • Describe options for screening for caregiver depression and use tools for screening, referral, and follow-up of caregiver mental health needs.
  • Access and refer patients and colleagues to resources for education, consultation, and clinical services in the state of Iowa for perinatal and caregiver depression.
