Educational Need

An estimated 40% of the US population has Vitamin D deficiency (Sowah, 2017). Because of the high correlation of Vitamin D deficiency and many chronic conditions, it is important that healthcare workers are prepared to recognize and treat this condition.

Learning Objectives

  • Define Vitamin D sufficiency, insufficiency and deficiency.
  • Articulate physiologic Vitamin D synthesis.
  • Recognize populations at risk for Vitamin D deficiency.
  • Identify proper Vitamin D supplementation.
