Educational Need
Transgender individuals face persistent disparities in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes due to systemic barriers, bias, and a lack of provider education. As both patients and healthcare professionals, transgender individuals often encounter discrimination, inadequate medical training on gender-affirming care, and institutional policies that fail to address their needs.
Healthcare providers must have the knowledge and skills to advocate for systemic change in medical education and healthcare policies. This includes understanding the unique challenges transgender individuals face, fostering inclusive clinical and workplace environments, and championing policies that promote equity and access to quality care.
This educational activity addresses these gaps by empowering participants with the tools to recognize and address healthcare inequities, advocate for policy reforms, and create affirming spaces for transgender individuals. By fostering a culture of inclusion and advocacy, healthcare professionals can drive meaningful improvements in transgender healthcare experiences and outcomes.
