Target Audience

Des Moines University faculty and staff. 

Purpose

This class will introduce you to the key elements you and your students need to know to help you accomplish your clinical, research, and educational goals.   

VisualDX aids in the identification of dermatologic, infectious, genetic, metabolic, nutritional and occupational diseases, benign and malignant growths, drug‐induced conditions, and other injuries. Engineered for use at the point of care, the VisualDX system allows physicians to search by diagnosis, build a patient‐specific differential, or look up drug‐induced adverse reactions by medication.

Learning Objectives

By the end of class participants will be able to independently explain key concepts and/or perform the following skills as indicated by the observation of the instructor and student’s self‐assessment:

1. Explain Copyright and attribution issues for multimedia content licensed by the library.
2. Identify the various search options including basic, clinical scenario, diagnosis, and medication.
3. Practice downloading images.
4. Summarize how to properly cite VisualDX.
5. Summarize where to locate VisualDX media in UptoDate.
6. Identify how to locate further training materials from the DMU library at: http://lib.dmu.edu/db/visualdx.
