This class will introduce you to the key elements you & your students need to know to help you accomplish your clinical, research, and educational goals.
RefWorks is a web‐based bibliography and database manager that allows you to create your own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases and other various sources. With RefWorks you can also use these references to easily generate bibliographies (as well as in‐text citations and footnotes) with easy‐to‐use word processor plugins. This class will focus on citing references in Microsoft Word and sharing your references and Word Documents with colleagues.
By the end of class participants will be able to independently explain key concepts and/or perform the following skills as indicated by the observation of the instructor and student’s self‐assessment:
- Identify where to download WriteNCite from the toolbar menu and successfully download and install this Microsoft Word add-on.
- Practice how to work with references in Microsoft Word.
- Identify citation options in RefWorks.
- Practice sharing a personal folder with colleagues, including adding and removing shares and saving citations into a personal RefWorks account.
- Create a group account and be able to explain the differences between individual and group accounts.
- Identify the library’s guide to RefWorks at http://lib.dmu.edu/db/refworks in order to access further training materials.
