Course Description
Scopus is an interdisciplinary citation database for the peer-reviewed literature. Scopus features smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research metrics such as journal and author metrics and the H-Index, which are used to quantify the research impact of a publication or authors work.
Objectives
By the end of class participants will be able to independently explain key concepts and/or perform the following skills as indicated by the observation of the instructor and student’s self-assessment:
- Demonstrate how to build an effective search strategy for journal and authors metrics
- Practice saving search results and strategies
- Practice setting up an alert to see when an article or author has been cited in Scopus.
- Identify how to locate further training materials from the DMU library at http://lib.dmu.edu/db/scopus

Des Moines University is located on a 22-acre campus in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa. Just west of downtown on Grand Avenue, the University is located in one of Des Moines' most prestigious neighborhoods. The campus is in a historic neighborhood filled with tree-lined streets and gracious older homes and businesses. Its central location makes it easy to access the rest of the city and outlying communities. The campus is close to the Des Moines International Airport, located on the bus line and just blocks from local shopping and downtown Des Moines.
