Purpose
Looking for new ways to engage students in their learning? Interested in maximizing student achievement next semester? Look no further! The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is hosting a formative assessment workshop. The session will use an interactive “card game,” adapted from a learning exercise developed by colleagues at the Medical College of Wisconsin. We will explore a number of formative assessment strategies and discuss best practices as we match strategies to learning objectives.
One of the purposes of this workshop is to identify formative assessment strategies that align to your student learning goals. Please come prepared to share at least one learning objective from your course.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the value of formative assessment in the teaching-learning process.
- Select a formative assessment strategy that aligns to their learning objective.
