This annual workshop is designed to provide mental health clinic providers, administrators and staff with current information on changes in mental health services – whether in private practices, nursing homes, day treatment centers, community mental health centers and/or hospitals.

Forms, Forms and What About HIPAA - Reviewing and Issues Relating to Legal Compliance
Jo Ellen Whitney, JD – Davis Brown Law Firm

The current status of OCR rules and requirements as well as the OCR audits for HIPAA compliance. Participants will be able to assess OCR compliance strategies and how those impact on their practice or organization. State law issues and changes. Participants will address various state law issues relating to the use and sharing of information. How to address texting and social media issues in client relationships.

What to Expect from MACRA, MIPS and APMs: Countdown to Payment Reform
Sandy Swallow, CMA (AAMA), CPHIT, CPEHR

For eligible clinicians, the MACRA countdown clock is ticking, and the January 1, 2017 performance period is just around the corner. To ease the transition, Sandy Swallow, Sr. QI Advisor, will share an overview of the newly proposed CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP). She will provide a brief overview of MACRA and review the basic structure and key elements of the MIPS and APM payment options for Medicare Part B clinicians and health care organizations. Sandy will recommend some behavioral health-related quality measures.

Iowa’s Medicaid Modernization Program 
Medicaid Enterprise Has Been Invited

Participants will learn how the program is progressing and how problems are being addressed at the state level. The three Managed Care Organizations will also give an update on changes being made by their company to address the concerns of clinics. It will be followed by a question answer session.

Speakers

JoEllen Whitney, JD, is a senior shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm. She works extensively in the field of Healthcare Law, privacy and confidentiality issues for hospitals, clinics and small practices. Ms. Whitney works with clients on HIPAA, medical records privacy, security, record release and
retention.

Sandy Swallow, CMA (AAMA), CPHIT, CPEHR is a Sr. Quality Improvement Facilitator at Telligen, with over 25 years of experience providing workflow redesign and quality improvement assistance to physician office practices. She is a certified professional in health information technology, electronic health records and certified in Meaningful Use. Since 2006, Ms. Swallow has been assisting physician practices with assessment, planning, and implementation of electronic health records; and producing usable data for clinic‐level population management including improving clinicians’ rates for adherence to evidence‐based preventive care services. Currently, she supports practices the education and tools to improve their healthcare delivery and obtain the financial and clinical quality rewards of meeting CMS Quality Improvement Initiatives such as Meaningful Use and the new Quality Payment Program.
