  3. Discover how funding and reimbursement program affect the care and services that are provided and strategically determining the course of action to take in a changing world of healthcare reimbursement. 
  4. Apply the statistically significant findings for tools such as Root Cause Analysis and Strategic Goal Dashboards to continue to support improvement in your organization.

Sarah Pavelka, PhD
Instructor, Department of Public Health, Des Moines University 

Sarah Pavelka has over 19 years of experience teaching and coaching in industry, education, and healthcare.  Her work mission is to share her knowledge and experiences for Organizational Development and Continuous Improvement, and is co-author of Tool Time for Lean – A Practical Guide for Implementation.  Dr. Pavelka's extensive experience in Baldrige includes a five-time National and seven-year state of Iowa examiner. Sarah is the owner of Pavelka's Point Consulting, LLC, and an Improvement Advisor for the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative, and faculty for the Master of Health Administration program at Des Moines University.  She is also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Sarah holds degrees in Biology and Psychology (Luther College); an Occupational Therapy degree (Concordia University Wisconsin), MHA (Des Moines University), and a PhD from Walden University.   She is a Fellow for the National Association for Healthcare Quality, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and also has credentials in Ergonomics, Lean, and Six Sigma Black Belt.
