Wolfgang Kliemann

Wolfgang Kliemann, PhD
Associate Vice President for Research, Research Integrity Officer, Iowa State University

Dr. Wolfgang Kliemann received his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Bremen, Germany in 1980 in the area of stochastic processes. Since 1983 he has been a faculty member at Iowa State University in Ames; since 1992 as full professor. Dr. Kliemann has published over 125 refereed publications in mathematics, statistics, and engineering outlets, including seven books as (co)author or (co-)editor. He has given over 135 invited presentations at scientific meetings in 26 countries. More importantly, he has been the major professor of 14 PhD students in mathematics and statistics, and has mentored six postdoctoral associates. Over the last 15 years he has mostly dedicated his time to academic administration as department chair, associate dean for research of the ISU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and as associate vice provost in ISU’s central research administration. Dr. Kliemann currently serves as ISU’s associate vice president for research. Part of his responsibilities include coordination of big data initiatives on campus and with other institutions, such as the Midwest Big Data Hub and other universities.
