Objectives

  • Describe the challenges experienced by health consumers in managing their personal health information (PHI) as reported by professional organizers who assist them.
  • Recognize how the health information environment, and individuals' health situation and social support system converge to effect consumer-patients' ability to manage their PHI from the perspectives of organizers.
  • Judge how the communication and information practices of providers and insurers effect patients' ability to manage their PHI and their health.
