Target Audience
Primary care physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, substance use disorder professionals, or clinic staff who support behavioral health services.
Purpose
Led by a panel of behavioral health experts, Behavioral Health ECHO helps participants learn best practices for treating common mental health conditions and connect with peers from around the state to discuss and learn best practices in identifying and treating behavioral health issues. The curriculum is delivered at no cost through case-based learning strategies via video conferencing technology.
Learning Objectives
- Define perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and frequency of occurrence.
- Differentiate between "baby blues" and PMADs.
- Describe the risk factors and symptoms of PMADs.
Speakers
Diane Hudson, MSEd, LMHC, NCC
Ms. Hudson is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT200). She attended Western Illinois University, where she graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, in 2010 with a Master of Science degree in Educational Studies, and in 2019 with her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her professional experience includes The Abbey Addiction Treatment Center, Life Connections Mental Health, Davenport Police Department, and the American Red Cross, as well as many volunteer opportunities, including the Quad Cities Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Amy’s Gift (QC Eating Disorder Consortium) where she currently serves on the Advisory Committee, and Postpartum Support International (PSI) - Iowa Board of Directors.
She specializes in treating clients who present with adjustment-related concerns, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, addiction and codependency, and other trauma-related stressors. Ms. Hudson works primarily with individuals aged 18 and up. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach with treatment modalities rooted in the theory of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), which uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, commitment and behavior change to increase psychological flexibility and overall well-being, and Somatic Experiencing® therapy. She has also been presenting at local and regional conferences since 2010 on the topic of using yoga and mindfulness to support emotional health.
Ms. Hudson owns New Moon Wellness QC, which supports clients across the state of Iowa via telehealth and in-person in Bettendorf, Iowa.
