Introduction to Session Five

Executive Communication Coaching Program

Andy Garman
Wixted and Company, West Des Moines

The goal of the Executive Communication Coaching program is for leaders to elevate their communication skills and achieve their business goals – whether that’s communicating succinctly, establishing leadership through engagement, or leading a meeting. How leaders communicate often determines their level of success. Effective communication and presentation skills are important for leaders of all levels.

Learning Objectives

  • Audience Analysis - Effective communicators begin with the needs and feelings of the audience front and center. Developing an audience-centric communication approach is vital to effective communication. An empathetic approach to stakeholders puts their needs and concerns first.
  • Opening Statement - Learn the 90-second opening statement model to begin any meeting, presentation, or one-on-one discussion with confidence and clarity. This tool builds common ground with the audience, creates a listening environment, and can be used as an elevator speech.
  • The Foundation of Effective Communication - People make decisions based on net impression. Recognize and manage the impression others have of you and your company using verbal and nonverbal strategies.
  • YOU factor - Research shows that audiences emphasize how something is said rather than what is said. Participants will learn to strengthen their “YOU factor” to build trust, credibility, and confidence.
