Description
This session provides an overview of lifestyle medicine as an evidence-based approach to preventing and managing chronic disease. Participants will explore the six pillars of lifestyle medicine and learn practical, evidence-based strategies to integrate lifestyle interventions into clinical practice, support behavior change, and improve patient health outcomes.
Educational Need
Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and hypertension remain leading causes of morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Although lifestyle factors are primary contributors to these conditions, many healthcare professionals receive limited formal training in prescribing evidence-based lifestyle interventions and supporting sustainable behavior change. This educational activity addresses the gap by increasing participants' knowledge of lifestyle medicine principles, strengthening their confidence in counseling patients, and providing practical strategies to incorporate lifestyle interventions into everyday clinical practice. By enhancing competency in lifestyle medicine, clinicians can improve patient outcomes, reduce disease burden, and advance preventive, patient-centered care.
