Friday Research Seminar Series: MSBS Students
Des Moines, IA US
February 7, 2014
Overview
Target Audience
Des Moines University faculty, staff, and students.
Topics
Investigation of Statin Actions on Signal Transduction Pathways in an Aggressive Natural Killer Cell Leukemia Cell Line
- Differentiate between cases of natural killer cell leukemia, their symptoms, and prognosis when compared to other lymphomas.
- Describe previous research involving statins as a tool in cancer treatment.
- Analyze and question the mechanisms by which statins act on signal transduction pathways in NK cell leukemia.
- Have an ability to interpret a human Phospho-MAPK array.
Identification and Characterization of Calmodulin-Binding Domains in the Angiotensin II Receptor 1A
- Identify how FRET based biosensors offer an exhaustive approach to identify potential calmodulin binding domains of the angiotensin II receptor 1A (AT1R).
- Demonstrate how our methods, in combination with FRET based biosensors and suitable Ca2+ indicators, allows precise assessment of the Ca2+ sensitivity between CaM and its partners, which is useful in predicting physiological function.
