Integrating Cultural and Linguistic Competency and Diversity in the Curriculum
Overview
E-3 of the DMU Strategic Plan reads “Enhance the cultural awareness of the DMU community to support inclusiveness, prepare students for diverse patient populations and increase access to health care for the underserved”. The target date to achieve E-3 of the DMU Strategic Plan as set by President Franklin is July 1, 2013.
Des Moines University strongly believes that in order to better prepare our students for a diverse patient population, we need to include cultural competent content throughout the DMU curriculum. The planned workshops are going to help our faculty identify, develop, and integrate cultural competent content throughout the DMU curriculum.
