Target Audience
Des Moines University faculty and staff.
Purpose
This class will introduce you to the key elements you and your students need to know to help you accomplish your clinical, research, and educational goals.
Designed for the busy clinician at the point of care, ACP Smart Medicine, UptoDate, FirstConsult, and Essential Evidence Plus are all helpful resources for the student and clinician alike. But how are these resources alike? How are they different? And where do they fit into the EBM universe?
Learning Objectives
By the end of class participants will be able to independently explain key concepts and/or perform the following skills as indicated by the observation of the instructor and student’s self‐assessment:
- Identify four point of care tools provided by the DMU library: ACP Smart Medicine, UptoDate, FirstConsult, and Essential Evidence Plus.
- Practice utilizing resources such as compare coverage of key topics, compare search interfaces, and mobile access options in point of care scenarios.
- Summarize the evidence for these resources serving as evidence-based practice resources.
