Description
This session will spend time introducing attendees to the most common change management processes, examining what they have in common, and what distinguishes them. We’ll also talk about the relationship between personality types, emotional intelligence, and change. We will invite attendees to take two pre-session self-assessments, one intended to measure their change management skills and the other to measure their change readiness.
The outcome of these self-assessments will serve as talking points for group conversation. This session also supports the transfer of teaching and leadership skills relevant to academic environments. It provides strategies that can be applied in both individual and institutional change efforts.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the basic models illustrating, separately, the change process and the impact change has on the person.
- Recognize one’s own “change readiness” and identify areas where additional skills and change readiness can be developed.
- Identify and understand basic skills and traits that can be improved to better prepare individuals for change.
- Apply change management concepts to facilitate curricular or instructional changes within academic or clinical learning environments.
- Strengthen one’s ability to teach, lead, and support others through change using evidence-informed strategies.
