New Faculty Orientation is an individualized, conversational, and academically focused onboarding experience designed to meet your immediate needs and help you hit the ground running. Delivered over the first 2–3 weeks of your start date, the 13–16-hour program is offered in 30–60-minute increments through a blend of in-person, Zoom, and online components. This is not a comprehensive or one-size-fits-all orientation. It’s thoughtfully paced and relevant to your early faculty experience at DMU.

Key sessions include:

  • IT essentials and systems overview
  • Bite-sized modules on health professions education
  • Strategies to support student success
  • Introduction to advising, item writing, and student-teacher boundaries
  • Overviews of library services and simulation-based education
  • Supervisor and promotion meetings
  • A welcome lunch with a faculty buddy from a different program with shared interests

Your personalized schedule is pre-blocked on your calendar during the first two weeks to ensure a smooth and supported transition.
