Emergency ultrasound enables physicians to make rapid decisions, identify life-threatening conditions, and expedite the management of critical patients. Additionally, the length of stay in the emergency department dramatically decreases with the use of ultrasound, subsequently increasing patient satisfaction while maintaining an even higher standard of care. Its use extends beyond emergency providers and can improve patient outcomes in a multitude of settings. (Michalke, 2012)
Purpose
This workshop gives the practicing emergency provider current information and hands-on training to improve image acquisition and interpretation of point-of-care ultrasound. Practicing emergency ultrasound experts will provide presentations on each topic. This will be followed by small group breakout sessions where participants scan live models. Each small group will have an expert facilitator to ensure individualized attention and teaching that fits each participant's needs and skill level.
New Format!
Due to popular demand, the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Workshop has expanded to two half-days of hands-on learning - "basics" on Friday and "advanced" on Saturday. Join us on Friday afternoon to learn about the basic components of point-of-care ultrasound and common exams that all practitioners should be familiar with. Then, dive deep during the advanced session on Saturday morning and improve your competence with extended hands-on practice sessions. Interested individuals can attend one or both sessions!
Bonus Small Group Practice Session
Join us for an extension of the workshop on Saturday, February 11, 2023, for an exclusive one-hour practice session. Participants will scan live models and receive 1:1 support from practicing ultrasound experts. Each attendee will select their own topics from the workshop to practice during the bonus session. Space is limited to three (3) learners per instructor.
