Purpose

Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multi-disciplinary clinical activity that maintains, develops, or increases the knowledge, skills, professional performance, and relationships a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

Target Audience

Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), and healthcare administrators.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review optimal resuscitation strategies.
  2. Assess for local complications of pancreatitis.
  3. Discuss the management of pancreatic fluid collections. 

Speaker

Vinay Chandrasekhara, MD
Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Mayo Clinic
Director, Pancreas Group
Program Director, Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship

Dr. Chandrasekhara is a physician specializing in gastroenterology with advanced training in complex endoscopic procedures. He is currently the director of the pancreas interest group.

Areas of clinical expertise include:

  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
  • Endoscopic resection of large/complex gastrointestinal polyps

Dr. Chandrasekhara is active in clinical research for device development and the diagnosis and management of pancreaticobiliary conditions. He is the editor for Techniques and Innovations in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and has authored numerous guidelines on endoscopic procedures. He is passionate about education and is the program director for the advanced endoscopy fellowship.
