Overview
Purpose
Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multi-disciplinary clinical activity that maintains, develops, or increases the knowledge, skills, professional performance, and relationships a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.
Target Audience
Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), and healthcare administrators.
Learning Objectives
- Review the safe use of over-the-counter medications.
- Confidently select over-the-counter medications.
- Identify non-medication options for treating conditions.
Speakers
Ellen Heikens, PharmD
Mary Greeley Medical Center
Dr. Heikens has extensive experience in the field of pharmacy, having worked as a Pharmacist Intern at Hy-Vee, Inc. from October 2010 to April 2016. Dr. Heikens later transitioned to a Pharmacist role at Mary Greeley Medical Center in June 2014. At Hy-Vee, Dr. Heikens focused on educating patients, advising on medications, and performing medication dispensing functions. At Mary Greeley Medical Center, Dr. Heikens is involved in clinical activities, monitoring medications, ensuring accurate distribution, and compounding various products. Dr. Heikens is dedicated to providing the highest level of care and assistance to medical professionals and patients.
