Many people seek a hands-on, holistic approach to their healing. At Des Moines University Clinic — Osteopathic Manual Medicine Clinic, our expert providers are here to help with comprehensive osteopathic treatment.

Our providers are board-certified doctors of osteopathic medicine with specialized training in osteopathic manual medicine. As the largest group of OMM specialists in Iowa, we offer unmatched experience and expertise. As faculty members at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, we conduct research, train tomorrow’s doctors, and stay current with the latest advances in osteopathic care.

What to Expect

At our clinic, we take a whole-person approach to osteopathic family care. We consider factors such as diet, activity levels, sleep, and overall lifestyle to address the root issues affecting your well-being. This approach allows us to provide comprehensive osteopathic medicine treatment for acute and chronic conditions.

Your first visit will include a detailed history and physical exam. We may order lab or imaging tests to create a diagnosis and treatment plan. If appropriate, your DMU provider may offer osteopathic manipulation therapy. In this hands-on therapy, your provider moves your muscles and joints using gentle pressure, stretching, resistance, and range of motion exercises.
