Purpose
Educational conference for healthcare professionals designed to increase knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Educational Needs Assessment
Cardiovascular care continues to evolve through advances in clinical research, procedural technologies, national quality initiatives, and evidence-based treatment recommendations. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) provide important data and quality measures to guide clinical decision-making, identify gaps in care, and improve patient outcomes. However, healthcare professionals may be unfamiliar with emerging registry trends, evolving quality metrics, and strategies for translating national performance data into improvements in their own practice settings.
Recent advances in left atrial appendage occlusion, cardiac surgery, and transcatheter therapies for tricuspid valve disease have expanded treatment options and increased the complexity of patient selection and clinical management. Clinicians must remain current on procedural indications, emerging evidence, comparative treatment considerations, and multidisciplinary approaches to ensure appropriate, individualized care. Additionally, growing recognition of the relationship between cardiovascular and brain health highlights the importance of addressing shared risk factors, preventive strategies, and long-term health outcomes.
This educational activity addresses knowledge, competence, and practice gaps by providing updates on national cardiovascular quality priorities, contemporary treatment options, and emerging clinical evidence. Through expert presentations and panel discussions, participants will strengthen their ability to interpret quality data, evaluate treatment strategies, apply evidence-based recommendations, and collaborate across specialties to improve cardiovascular care and long-term patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- Describe current trends in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, quality metrics, and national ACC priorities.
- Apply registry and quality metric insights to improve cardiovascular outcomes within their own practice settings.
- Compare contemporary clinical considerations for left atrial appendage occlusion.
- Summarize recent advances and clinical updates in cardiac surgery.
- Assess indications and patient selection criteria for tricuspid transcatheter therapies to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Explain the relationship between heart health and brain health, including shared risk factors and prevention strategies.
- Analyze how multidisciplinary approaches affect long‑term patient outcomes.
