Target Audience

Purpose

The Iowa Neurological Association Annual Meeting will enhance learners' knowledge of current trends in neurology, including emerging diseases, treatments, and factors that influence neurological health. The mission of the activity is to improve the knowledge and clinical skills of neurology practitioners in Iowa, enabling them to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to the communities they serve.

The Expanding Role of FcRn Blockers to Achieve Minimal Symptom Expression in Patients with Generalized Myasthenia Gravis

  1. Review the disease burden and unmet needs of patients with gMG and specific QoL measures, including minimal symptom expression (MSE).
  2. Evaluate the current clinical trial data for gMG therapeutics and the use of MSE to measure disease activity and guide progress towards treatment goals.
  3. Develop individualized treatment plans for FcRn blockers, including the role of pre-filled self-injection routes of administration to improve outcomes.

  1. Recognize major atherosclerotic and non-atherosclerotic carotid pathologies that cause ischemic stroke.
  2. Differentiate the clinical presentation and imaging characteristics of atherosclerotic disease, carotid dissection, and carotid web. 
  3. Review the underlying pathophysiology by which each carotid disease leads to cerebral ischemia. 
  4. Compare current treatment strategies: medical therapy, carotid endarterectomy, carotid artery stenting, and disease-specific management based on available evidence.
