Target Audience
Healthcare providers.
Purpose
People struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and more routinely come to health care providers with pain, fatigue, brain fog, and a host of neurological, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal issues.
This course provides learners with an understanding of the integrated biopsychosocial model for overall health and wellbeing. It examines the problem of behavioral health conditions in America, and it begins to explore how those conditions impact the progress of patients who seek help for physical health-related conditions.
Learning Objectives
- Review the implementation of behavioral health concepts in daily practice.
- Identify members of the health care team with whom they can collaborate for in-depth care for behavioral health issues.
- Describe the connection between behavioral health diagnoses and clinical presentations of pain and other health complaints.
- Differentiate the opportunities to implement behavioral health screening and treatment in current practice patterns.

Speakers
A.J. Steele, PsyD, LCADC, TPS
Vice President of Faculty Experience, Evidence In Motion
Dr. Steele's educational journey started as an art major at Manchester College in N. Manchester, IN and continues to this day. She earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies at Manchester that focused on Psychology and Sport Sciences. Afterwards, Dr. Steele traveled to East Lansing, MI to attend Michigan State University and earned an MA in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in Sport Psychology. Wanting to become a licensed psychologist, she moved to Louisville, KY and graduated from Spalding University with a MA and PsyD in clinical psychology.
Adriann Louw, PT, PhD
Vice President of Faculty Experience, Evidence In Motion
Dr. Louw earned his undergraduate, master’s degree and PhD in physiotherapy from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, teaching pain science.
Dr. Louw has taught throughout the US and internationally for 30 years at numerous national and international manual therapy, pain science and medical conferences. He has authored and co-authored over 130 peer-reviewed articles related to spinal disorders and pain science.
Dr. Louw completed his Ph.D. on pain neuroscience education and is the Director of the Therapeutic Neuroscience Research Group – an independent collaborative initiative studying pain neuroscience. He is a senior faculty, pain science director and vice-president for Evidence in Motion.
