Purpose

Mary Greeley Medical Center Grand Rounds is a multidisciplinary clinical activity that maintains, develops, or increases a physician's knowledge, skills, professional performance, and relationships to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

Target Audience

Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical students (rotating), non-medical students (rotating), and healthcare administrators.

Learning Objectives

  1. Highlight how applying the CDC’s core elements of antimicrobial stewardship can support patient care.
  2. Summarize key changes in empiric antibiotic selections and duration of therapy for community-acquired pneumonia based on the 2025 ATS guidelines.
  3. Review the 2025 IDSA guideline updates for complicated UTIs, focusing on new classifications, empiric antibiotic selection, and treatment duration.
  4. Explain strategies for evaluating and de-labeling beta-lactam allergies to optimize antibiotic use.
