Instructions

The planning committee for the 2022 Iowa Diabetes + Wellness Summit invites you to submit proposals for presentation at the conference. Sessions will be 60 minutes in length, including 50 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A with learners.

The Iowa Diabetes + Wellness Summit will provide an engaging forum to discuss the latest practices, opportunities, resources, and tools for addressing diabetes prevention, control, and management. The Summit will be held in person on Friday, November 4, 2022. To learn more about the Summit, visit the registration website

The committee is looking for proposals related to the goals and objectives of the Iowa Diabetes Statewide Strategy, including all aspects of diabetes prevention and management. The Summit is an excellent opportunity to share your work with diabetes care and education specialists, clinicians, dietitians, and other professionals working across Iowa and beyond.

The committee is particularly interested in reviewing proposals in the following areas:

  • Diabetes data/deserts of care (where are we struggling?)
  • Communication (patient-centered, health messaging broadly)
  • Technology (telehealth, CGMs)
  • Social impacts and coordinated care/health equity
  • Chronic care management models
  • Population health management
  • Mental and behavioral health (substance use, depression)
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Wellness and physical activity
  • Nutrition
  • Medications
  • Reimbursement/insurance
  • Emergency response/preparedness
  • COVID-19 and diabetes
  • Gestational diabetes and pregnancy in diabetes management
  • Management/treatment of diabetes-related health conditions (eye, foot, kidney, etc.)
  • Pre-diabetes
  • Diabetes prevention programs

Please Note These Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission deadline: Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11:59 pm CT
  • Notification of acceptance: Friday, July 15, 2022

Accepted sessions will receive complimentary registration for one presenter. No other compensation is provided.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts should follow these requirements:

  • The title is limited to a maximum of 10 words.
  • The abstract is limited to a maximum of 500 words.
  • Session learning objectives should align with the educational approach and be appropriate for the time allotted.

Consider the following questions when preparing your abstract.

  • Does the abstract clearly state the project's aim (i.e., a question, issue, or problem)?
  • Is the significance of work clearly stated?
  • If relevant, are the methods, data collection, and analysis procedures well-designed and appropriate to the question addressed?
  • Are the conclusions justified in relation to the data and/or analysis/description?
  • Is the abstract written clearly and organized well?
